THE VALUE MARKET / OPENED NOV 1, 2026
Three gaps around El Segundo that nobody can buy their way out of alone. Pledge what you’d put toward each one. Pledges are signals, never payments: no wallet, card, email or name. Totals are public and unverified.
Signals, not payments
The six nearby hospitals with January 2026 measurements shown here exceeded the county’s 30-minute standard at the 90th percentile. The state report lists hospitals exceeding their local standard and excludes those with fewer than 60 qualifying records. It is not a full hospital census or a measure of current ER waits. Three rail stations sit inside the city. The captured schedule gives 8-minute K Line weekday midday service and 20-minute evening service toward Expo/Crenshaw after 8 PM. BCT 109 runs every 40 to 50 minutes. Dial-A-Ride ends at 4:45 PM on weekdays. Metro projects the Torrance extension for late 2036, pending funding; SkyLink is still testing. The older 2018 commute figures are historical context. The evidence →

The 2011 South Bay plan counted 5.8 miles of bikeways in El Segundo and proposed 21.3 more. No newer official count turned up. The 22-mile beach path runs along the shore, but the stations and job centers sit inland. The evidence →

Your name or business credited on /value/transit/ for a month. Credit only: no say over what the ledger reports.
Opens only when Michael Hoydich sets the reserve and says go.
Say what you would chip in toward ER follow-up, a last-mile link or a bikeway update. Nothing is charged.
Public assets like hospitals, rail and the beach sit in the Value only lane on the ledger. They are never sold, auctioned or “adopted” here.
AI does the work, a person decides
| Role | Who | Does | Can’t |
|---|---|---|---|
| Appraiser | Claude (Anthropic) | Refreshes the ledger from official sources and proposes listings with a price and the reason. | Make a listing live. |
| Moderator | Grok (xAI), second read by ChatGPT (OpenAI) | Screens listings, bids and pledges against the never-list; removes spam and anything naming a private person. | Approve its own listings. |
| Settler | ChatGPT (OpenAI), as Shwa | Answers buyers, closes auctions, sends the winner’s payment request, runs the first pass on disputes. | Send a refund, change a price over the limit or touch a payout wallet. |
Michael Hoydich approves: Turning the market on; Any new kind of listing; Any price over a limit he sets (suggested $100); Every refund and payout; Any change to a receiving wallet; Every contested dispute. A note from an agent is never that approval.
