Here / Walking the dog / anywhere in town

You’re out with the dog.

In El Segundo a dog walks on a leash of six feet or less1 everywhere but one fenced park on East Imperial.2 Bring a bag and pick a walk.

How long have you got?

  1. 5 minutes

Once around the block, leash on.1 Pick up what the dog leaves, on the sidewalk or on someone’s lawn.8

  2. An hour

Walk to the dog park on East Imperial Avenue, between Sheldon Street and McCarthy Court.4 Inside the fence the leash comes off,2 but keep it in your hand and don’t bring food.3 There’s a water fountain for dogs.4

  3. Half a day

Make a loop through the parks, where dogs are welcome on a leash.2 Stop at Recreation Park on Sheldon Street, which has its own dog water fountain,5 then finish with a run at the dog park.4 On a hot day go early or late, and stay on the grass.9

Three things to notice.

  1. Let the dog set the pace for one block. Notice what it stops for that you’d have walked past.
  2. When a plane goes over, watch the dog’s ears before you look up.
  3. Notice who else is out with a dog at this hour. A nod is enough.

These are suggestions for your attention, not facts about the place.

Good to know here.

If something’s wrong.

Call 9-1-1
  • A loose or aggressive dog, nobody hurt? Call the police non-emergency number, 310-524-2760.12 Call 9-1-1 if someone is in danger. We found no separate Animal Control number on the City’s pages.
  • Your dog in the heat? Excessive panting and distress are early signs of heat stress.9 Move to shade and call your vet.

What this guide is for.

The same words tag every guide, so a phone, an AI or, one day, a pair of glasses can find the right one for what you’re doing. How the tags work.

Before you go.

Bag in your pocket, leash in your hand, water if it’s warm.

Nothing on this page knows where you are. You opened it here; that’s all it needs. The dog park’s place page and the Recreation Park guide have more.
